Summer
Summer is here and I'm afraid it is going to hit us hard. Spring temperatures were great, but a little heavy on the rainfall. The problem will be this transition from cool and wet to hot and dry. When the soil is waterlogged as it has been most of the spring, we don't get good root development. Turf, bushes, and trees don't have as many roots as usual because of poor oxygen content in the soil. So, guess what?!, when things dry down and heat up, the plants don't have good reserves to draw from and they stress more than normal. Unfortunately, you can't prevent this from happening, but you can be aware of it and be ready to react with good irrigation when the plants do show stress. So, keep an eye out over the next 3 to 4 3 weeks during this transition time and we will follow what Mother Nature throws at us.

Tennis to Fight Diabetes
Thanks to the Morrison family, loyal Heritage Lawns & Irrigation clients, for all of their hard work hosting the 1st Annual Tennis to Fight Diabetes Tennis Social and Silent Auction. This will help raise awareness of Juvenile Diabetes in the Kansas City area. I encourage everyone to help in any way they can. It sounds like Bryan Busby will be there and lots of great items, like a 3 day Tennis resort stay in Florida. Visit

TICKS!!!
Ticks! I feel my skin crawl just thinking about them. It looks like we are having a bumber crop this year. Ticks not only are a nuisance, but they can also lead to serious illnesses such as Lyme's Disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Heritage Lawns can treat your lawn for fleas and ticks as well as turf damaging insects to minimize their impact.
