Thanksgiving is next week already! Are you prepared? It has been a good fall and I look forward to the holidays, but they seem to be coming extra fast this year. Here are some "Did you know's" to make sure you haven't forgotten anything on the lawn as the seasons change.
Did You Know?
- Mulching your leaves with the mower has no negative effect on the lawn. See the study from Perdue here. This may be a big deal next year since Johnson County's landfill may be closing to leaves and grass clippings.
- The Kansas City area's frot depth is considered to be 36 inches. Recent warm winters, though, have seen it as shallow as 3 inches. This means, you need to make sure your sprinklers are winterized every year. You may get lucky one year, but you never know about this winter. Contact us if you need help winterizing your sprinkler system.
- Trees may take up to 6 months to move nutrients throughtout the plant. That is why now is the best time to fertilize trees and shrubs. They will use what we do now to come out stronger with better flowers and leaves next spring. Contact us about our Fall Deep Root Fertilization special.

Joke of the Day
Bill and Bob, two children, were sitting outside a clinic. Bob happened to be crying very loudly.
"Why are you crying?" Bill asked.
"I came in for a blood test," Bob sobbed.
"So, are you afraid?"
"No, for the blood test, they cut my finger."
As Bill heard this, he immediately began crying profusely. Astonished, Bob stopped his tears and asked Bill "Why are you crying?"
Bill replied, "I came in for a urine test!"
